How Ekumene works
Two questions. Six pillars. One system that shows you what's actually possible.
The Lodestone
The Lodestone is Ekumene's core — an intelligence engine that answers two orthogonal questions: What matters most? (urgency) and What's actually possible? (feasibility).
Urgency
What matters most?
Every task gets classified into three tiers based on signals: deadline proximity, external dependencies, frequency slack, prerequisite chains, and blocking status.
Feasibility
What's actually possible?
Knowing what's urgent isn't enough. The Lodestone checks whether today's priorities fit in the windows you actually have — and shows you the conflict honestly when they don't.
Urgency is never demoted by feasibility. A task due today stays Tier 1 even if no window exists. The system surfaces this conflict — it doesn't hide it.
Every classification shows why
Other apps schedule for you. Ekumene shows you the math. Every tier assignment includes a signal breakdown so you understand exactly why the system recommends what it does.
Disagree with a classification? Override it. You know your life better than any algorithm.
Plan. Execute. Reflect.
Ekumene operates in three distinct modes, each with mode-aware AI behavior. The system adapts its recommendations based on what you're trying to do.
Plan
What should I commit to?
- Feasibility checks before commitment
- Pillar balance and capacity allocation
- Project planning with prerequisites
- TimeBlock configuration
Execute
What should I do now?
- Daily triage and anchor selection
- "What Now?" based on energy level
- Task completion tracking
- Context switching guidance
Reflect
How did I do?
- Weekly completion statistics
- Anchor adherence analysis
- Deviation from plan (what didn't happen)
- Cross-pillar balance trends
Six MECE pillars
Ekumene organizes your life into six pillars — mutually exclusive, collectively exhaustive domains that compete for finite weekly hours. Everything fits somewhere. Nothing overlaps.
Work
"Am I being paid or obligated?"
Projects
"Am I building for future me?"
Health
"Does this keep me functional?"
People
"Is this about someone I care about?"
Household
"Is this keeping life running?"
Rest
"Is this restoring my energy?"
All six pillars at every tier. Truth is never paywalled.
Cross-pillar intelligence
The Lodestone identifies imbalances across pillars — not to judge, but to help you see patterns you might miss when looking at one domain at a time.
One pillar over capacity while another is underutilized
Multiple pillars at high focus rate, overall capacity near maximum
Rest pillar underused while overall focus rate is high
Pillar has budget but no activity in 14+ days
Frequency slack calculation
Activity patterns model recurring commitments like "Exercise 3x/week". The system calculates slack — how many buffer days remain — and adjusts urgency accordingly.
Pattern detection & memory
Pro unlocks longitudinal intelligence — the system learns your patterns over time and surfaces insights you couldn't see from daily data alone.
Pattern detection
"You skip gym when you have evening meetings."
Surfaces correlations across weeks and months
Trend analysis
"Work is crowding Health again — third week in a row."
Multi-week synthesis in Reflect mode
Memory-powered accountability
"Last time you had a week like this, Health dropped for 2 weeks."
1-year history with semantic search
Cross-pillar reasoning
"Adding this project would reduce Health time by 2h/week."
Tradeoff surfacing before you commit
